Listen "Why International Aid Fails: The Oslo Accords | Dr Jeremy Wildeman | AHI #11"
Episode Synopsis
Our guest is Dr Jeremy Wildeman, Adjunct Professor & Fellow at Human Rights Research and Education Centre (HRREC), University of Ottawa. We talk about the intricacies and politics of international aid, and why it fails to bring about peace in the current world dynamics. Dr Wildeman unpacks the reality on the ground and the hidden agendas of governments, even when individuals want to do good.
He discusses the Oslo accords, which were agreements between Israel and the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), in an effort to bring peace to the region. He also tells us why humility and understanding cultures can play a big role in getting aid to work and bring about peace.
