Listen "AccountingWEB meets Robert Maas"
Episode Synopsis
As part of our occasional 'AccountingWEB meets' series of podcasts, we sat down with Robert Maas, the tax person's tax person.
Maas is one of the UK's leading experts on employment taxation, and he was awarded the lifetime achievement award at the Taxation Awards 2013.
His distinguished career has seen many changes, including the introduction of self assessment, where to draw media attention to the change he famously set alight a bonfire of paper tax returns outside Chartered Accountants’ Hall.
Speaking to AccountingWEB editor Tom Herbert back in 2018 at the offices of CBW Tax, where he now works as a consultant, Maas discussed his 50 years in tax, updating the penalties regime, HMRC's relationship with tax agents and, of course, Making Tax Digital.
