To learn more about the business side of esports and where the industry is headed, I spoke with Alyson Walker, Chief Commercial Officer at OverActive Media. Her company owns major esports franchises and is hosting the Overwatch League Grand Finals this year in Toronto.
Walker has an extensive sports media background, having worked with the Olympics and major Canadian broadcasters. When discussing OverActive Media's origins, she explained, "A bunch of folks that come from the venture capital world and sports media and entertainment came together about five years ago and saw an opportunity in the esports space."
