This beast was a fun one to break down as it introduces the concept of the grapple/restrict mechanic and how it factors into the final CR of the beast. The fascinating part of the bite/grapple is how it works and heavily depends on the size of the target it's biting to allow further disrupting of the players plans. The idea of this podcast is to break monsters down into their bare components: DCR & OCR. These two values will allow us to see how strong they are and to see where D&D got the CR values from. I'm doing this because all too often, players skip right to level 3 to avoid the hell levels and possibly end up dead. Generally, each monster is a balancing act that isn't equal to the final value.
