" Megan Kanka -was a seven year old girl who was born on December 7, 1986 in New York City, New York. Her family later moved to Hamilton Township, New Jersey where her brutal murder happened. Her mother Maureen, her father Richard, her 12 year old sister, and her nine year old brother all lived in a quiet suburban neighborhood in Hamilton Township, New Jersey. Megan's parents lived in Hamilton Township, New Jersey for 14 year so when it came to Megan playing outside they thought she was safe. Megan's parents described her as a sweet faced little girl and loosing their child turned their lives upside down. Her parents wanted justice for their child and that is what they got and more.  Megan was a fierce but kindhearted little girl who was going into the second grade the year she was murdered. When Megan's parents found her bike in their front yard, they didn't know that their lives would change from that point on.
Little did the Kanka's know, that three register sex offenders lived only 30 yards across the street from them and one of them was Jesse Timmendequas. Jesse didn't have the best childhood because his mother was an alcoholic and was very sexually promiscuous towards him. His mother had lost seven children before him to abortions or foster care because she was looked at as an unfit parent. Jesse's father was known as a career criminal and forcibly raped Jesse and his younger brother, Paul, and this occurred three times a week for a span of four years. It was said that Jesse was mentally compromised as a result of fetal alcohol syndrome and by repeated sexual and physical abuse. In all, with Jesse's upbringing, it isn't shocking to hear that he committed this horrible crime."
