Episode Synopsis

Manoj Mitta is a former senior editor at Times of India and Indian Express and the author of three books. His most recent, out this year, is called Caste Pride: Battles for Equality in Hindu India, and it provides an exhaustively researched overview of the legal and political history of caste in modern India, from the colonial era to the present. In this podcast, we discuss the layers and implications of the book, focusing in particular on the ugly manifestations of casteism in today’s India.
