When this occasion was first developed as a tool to address gender injustices in places of work, we called the project Take Our Daughters To Work Day. The idea was that while girls and women were in business settings together, man and boys were elsewhere learning about being an ally to women and girls. Unfortunately, that powerful advocacy message got lost and the effort has become more symbolic of a vocational training and experience effort. I believe that the #MeToo and other forces for equality show why we need to return to our original intentions.
