Listen "What Does the Bible Say About Substance Abuse?"
Episode Synopsis
Send us a textIn this episode, Arnie and Fred discuss what the Bible says about substance abuse. Arnie begins by noting that Paul likens the Christian to an athlete who prepares himself for athletic competition and then engages in it. He notes the rigorous exercise and preparation of his body that is required to compete successfully. The Christian must engage in a much more important race as Paul notes in a later passage. We begin by looking at passages that mention the importance of the Christian's physical body. The Christian's body is a member of Christ and temple of the holy spirit. We discuss the passage that indicates we are to function in this life as living sacrifices and what that means. Consequently, there is a requirement that we must meet to do so, and we look at that. We note what the bible says about our desires and the need to control them because God has crowned us with glory and honor, and we ought to reflect that as His creation. We end this episode by looking at the Holy Spirit's use of the word's sorcery and witchcraft and the meanings of these two words in the contexts they appear. Take about 30 minutes to listen in on our conversation. Have your Bible handy so you can verify what we are saying. There is a transcript provided for this Buzzsprout episode.
