We begin by looking at the passage in Revelation where Jesus discusses this necessity with the saints in the local church at Smyrna. We talk about Jesus being the faithful witness who can provide His disciples with the guidance in order to do so. In this case, Jesus reminds His disciples there that He knows what they are faced with and encourages them to be faithful. We note what Jesus says about Satan and what he does to try to deceive those who obey His commands. We discuss what Satan did in trying to tempt Jesus to sin and how Jesus defeated Satan's attempts. We suggest that this is a pattern that the Lord has provided us to follow to remain faithful to Him all of our lives. John reminds us of the dangers we face in this world and what the god of this world does in using the things of the world to tempt us. We end this episode by noting that Paul states that we are not ignorant of Satan's devices that he uses.
