By Rev Bev Bell | Mark 12:28-34Mark 12:28-34 (NIV)This current series of teachings has been focusing on the Priorities of Jesus.  This week we look at the commandments that Jesus believed were the most important.  In response to a question about which commandment was the greatest Jesus said“This is the first commandment, - You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart  and with all your soul, and with all your mind and with all your strength.  The second is this,     you shall love your neighbour as yourself.  There is no other  commandment greater than these.”In fact, -  if a person fulfils  these two commandments that Jesus gave, they are in fact fulfilling  all the others.   Jesus came to reveal to us the heart of God, and the heart of God is to love –  For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life .(John 3:16)   This is a pure self-giving love that seeks for the good of the other – and that is the love we are called to model, by loving God and loving one another as ourselves.     These are the priorities of Jesus -the most important commandments.
