In times like these, wherein we mourn,
in times like these, are heroes born;
in times like these, our hearts should be,
so thankful for our liberty.

With patriot’s blood, they did defeat,
the tyrant’s heel was in retreat;
they who fought, did heed the call,
and for our hope, they gave their all.

Throughout the years of wars and strife,
they gave their best, they gave their life;
and now the time has come to pay,
our best respect on Veteran’s Day.

Of this rhyme, these words are sure,
and with this truth we must adjure;
those we see, whose hearts are cold,
their liberties cannot be sold.

Our Founding Fathers said it best,
for with their blood, they did attest;
to all of us to keep the fire,
of freedom’s passion and desire.

Let us now give honor true,
and let us be reminded, too;
that we are blessed with liberty,
by those who served to keep us free.

With thanks and prayers, we do salute
them who fought with a resolute;
hope and dream for freedom’s light,
to keep it shining ever bright.

So, for the service they have done,
let us be grateful, everyone;
to them who gave without regret,
let’s all stand up and “Thank a Vet!”
