We look at Chapter 14 of the Book of Revelation with Irish Scripture Scholar Frances Hogan in this episode. St. John continuously tries to tell the church that the Lord has the victory, and the saints and the martyrs have the victory. Here we meet the companions of the Lamb on Mount Zion who represent that same victory.

Mount Zion is where God and His Messiah would assemble the faithful to begin their eschatological reign; it is also God’s resting place. When Jesus chose His 12 apostles, it was because He wanted us to be involved in what He was doing. He wants the whole Christ to be involved in redemption. We meet the 144 as the elect of the Lamb; they have chosen Him and He has chosen them. Ordinary weak human beings are given such grace and such privilege to follow the Lamb; they follow Him where He goes. They are “the first fruits of Jesus’ harvest.”



The “first fruits” are the redeemed, they are faithful to the Lamb, they followed the path of Christ in suffering, they have not accepted deception, and they are set free in the Truth. If you have the seal of God on your forehead, you don’t have to worry about the mark of the beast.
