In July 1980, the official magazine of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints scrubbed an article that described the Anthon Transcript, supposedly what was given to Professor Anthon describing the lettering of the Gold Plates. The article discussed how LDS scholars were convinced this was real, and there was even an article from Mark Hoffman. Problem? Mark Hoffman was shown to be a forger and this manuscript was a fake!
