The national quarantine is producing stress, anxiety, grief, and a variety of other mental health concerns for millions of people around the world. In today's episode, I'm talking with Dr. T'Airra Belcher about how anxiety may manifest, ways to combat anxiety day to day, and how reaching out to someone you trust can help alleviate the stress.
Dr. T’Airra Belcher is a native of Richmond, Va. She earned her bachelor’s degree from James Madison University (2012), a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Old Dominion University (2014), and a doctoral degree in Education with a concentration in Counselor Education and Supervision from Old Dominion University (2019). She is a nationally Certified Counselor (NCC), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Virginia and Louisiana, and a Certified Clinical Mental Health Counselor (CCMHC). Dr. Belcher’s research interest include Meta-Analysis, Inter-professional Collaboration, Multi-systemic Therapy, teaching practices, teen suicide, LGBT development, and experiences of African Americans in higher education.
Currently, Dr. Belcher is an Assistant Professor at Loyola University New Orleans in the Counseling Department. Dr. Belcher has a private practice, offering tele-therapy, providing outpatient therapy to individuals, families, and couples. Clinically, Dr. Belcher has experience working with children and teens on topics associated with development, gender and sexuality, trauma, depression, anxiety, ADHD, and adjustment as well as adults with serious mental health disorders, relationships, anxiety, and communication skills.
