Loneliness has a significant effect on our health,  diabetes, anxiety, depression, addictions, suicide. It also seems like loneliness is the perfect soil for sin to flourish. If I were Satan, that would certainly be my goal - to get people lonely and isolated. Naturally, our hearts are prone to wander, to harden, and to sin. The allurements of the world never stop lying to us and calling us away from the living God. Our sinful nature wants cheap substitutes for the real rest God offers in Christ, and the world is eager to offer them to us. The truth is, we really aren’t as self-reliant as we like to portray. We are constantly looking at those around us to get our cues. That inter-dependence is nothing new.
