Devon Dampier, Utahs junior quarterback, has made history as the first Utah quarterback in over twenty years to be named the Big Twelve Offensive Newcomer of the Year. Dampier, a Phoenix native, also earned a spot on the All-Big Twelve third team. He led Utahs offense to a significant improvement, scoring forty-one point one points per game, and maintained an impressive quarterback rating of eighty-one point eight. Despite injuries, Dampier finished the season with over two thousand passing yards, twenty-two touchdowns, nearly seven hundred rushing yards, and seven scores.
