Listen "Offended: Choice or Condition? (Episode 100)"
Episode Synopsis
We made it 100 episodes!! For the 100th episode, Shaunna and Lisa dive deep into the feeling of being offended. They analyze both the reasons people may feel this emotion, as well as the linguistic roots of this word. Further, how is this word used in social justice circles? Many of us within the realm of social justice and advocacy will recall being called "easily offendable" or "too sensitive". Through an in-depth and reciprocal discussion, Shauna and Lisa conclude that the term "offended" has been adopted as a form of gaslighting used by the powers that be (i.e. white people, men, able-bodied people) to dismiss the anger of others. For more information, read: https://digital.sandiego.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=1067&context=honors_theseshttps://www.theatlantic.com/national/archive/2010/10/why-are-black-people-so-forgiving/64129/*** If requiring a transcript please email [email protected]****** Support the Podcast ***InsideTracker: Get 20% off at insidetracker.com/feistyOrca: Use code IRONWOMEN15 for 15% off at www.orca.com/Hammerhead: Get a FREE heart-rate monitor with the purchase of a Hammerhead Karoo 2.
