The human brain is the most complex machine in the known universe, hence why it’s often compared to a computer. Just like a computer, the brain has many programs like the ones that allow us to move, think and make decisions.
To operate, a computer uses software, which is simply a set of instructions to tell it what to do. Our brains work the exact same way. Software is installed rapidly as we learn new things.
The accumulated software I refer to as your story.
Your story is written by your past experiences and influences your thoughts big time. In many cases, your story may be sabotaging your goals and success. The first step to achieving a better outcome is to rewrite your story (reprogram your brain).
First you must make peace with the fact that everything you’ve experienced to date has written your story that may not be serving you and your goals!
Your story is extremely powerful. It creates your thoughts, beliefs and dogmas … which all contribute to your actions and results.
Before setting new goals in 2020 it’s extremely important to acknowledge your story. A great exercise to help get your started is to write your it down on paper as though you were writing a script for a movie about your life. Highlight everything that may have influenced you to this point.
Parents, religion, school, community and your friends … They all contribute to your story.
Identifying your story–and who has influenced it–is a critical step in reprogramming your brain and thoughts, because your story creates a blueprint for everything from health and relationships to wealth and work ethic.
If you’re dissatisfied with any of these elements of your life, then chances are, you need to upgrade your story.
