Dr. Mello’s work encompasses the effects of law and regulation on health care delivery and population health outcomes in addition to medical liability, public health law, pharmaceuticals and vaccines, biomedical research ethics and governance, health information privacy, and other topics. We talked about COVID-19’s long-term impacts on healthcare delivery, her takeaways from the global COVID-19 response, vaccine regulations and recent mandates, how public health law has been shaped throughout the pandemic to ultimately help or hurt us in future situations, and what steps are ahead to make sure we are better prepared for future diseases.
