Listen "Climate Courage: why raising human consciousness is critical"
Episode Synopsis
Send us a textIn 1985, Carl Sagan testified before Congress on climate change. He clearly explained the issue and the risks, however, one comment towards the end captured my imagination. He finishes his speech with: what is essential for this problem is a global consciousness. A view that transcends our exclusive identifications with the generational and political groupings into which - by accident - we have been born. He finishes with: the solution to these problems requires a perspective that embraces the planet and the future, because we are all in the greenhouse together. He was so right and yet; we haven’t made any movement in this direction at all. In fact, in the last decade, we seem to be splintering apart. But there are pockets of hope around the world and those pockets seem to be getting deeper. So, what does consciousness really mean? How can we understand and embrace it? There’s a lot of information on it, some of it too extreme for the average person to take on board, but the simplest definition is: it’s the state of being aware of and responsive to one's surroundings. Joined by my co-host Samantha Gayfer, we have two very special guests to help us understand what consciousness is and how we can create ripples around the world and drive the change needed to overcome the enormous challenges we face. First up is Yana Fry. Yana helps conscious leaders to realise their full potential. She is an impact coach, global speaker, wellness retreats facilitator, community leader, host of timeless teachings and YanaTV, and she is also an author and poetess. Our second guest is Sandeep Nath. Sandeep is the founder of RENEWALism, which applies ancient oriental wisdom to reduce stress and raise wellbeing. He is also an expert in productivity and leadership development, an author and professional speaker, and an inner power, energy and mindfulness coach.Sounds amazing right? Come and join us. We are going live a couple of hours later to suit the time zones of all the speakers. Climate Courage is a fortnightly Livestream and podcast published on Uncommon Courage, where we will go big picture on the climate crisis and focus on the actions you and I can take to be part of the solution.
