So when the Government announced its intention to join a huge Pacific Rim trade bloc in February 2021, there were concerns about a perceived conflict with the UK's membership of the European Patent Office. Fast forward to July this year and the Government was thanking us for helping its negotiators to achieve a derogation of the patent grace period provision in accession to the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).
