Listen "We will remember them"
Episode Synopsis
As the number of first-hand witnesses grows smaller with each passing year, we do well to remember the words of the poet Steve Turner:
History repeats itself.
Has to.
No one listens.
When the guns fell silent on the Western Front in 1918 it was thought to be the ‘war to end all wars.’ It wasn’t. Within a generation the world was once again plunged into conflict. And while we’ve since voided another World War our planet seems no more peaceful than it ever was.
The problem is that human beings are prone to fight each other. We do so because of the selfishness of our human hearts, that want to impose their will on others and take what others have. If we truly want to live at peace and stop the cycle of endless conflict, then the starting point must be a conversion of the human heart. But how?
The message of the Bible is that through Jesus Christ we can make peace with God and have our selfish hearts replaced with ones that put the needs of others first. Find peace with God and we find peace with one another, and only then may history stop repeating itself.
