I came across this question on a list of the most beautiful ones ever asked.
Strange list for someone to make I agree, but the question caught me by surprise and made me pause.
When was the last time I did something for the first time?
In no particular order I started listing off my “first times” in my head.
There was the first time I had sex, my first kiss, my first date, my first day of school. The first day at a job, driving a car, swimming in the ocean.
There was the first time I ran a race, the first time I bought a house…
Most of these things were firsts that happened so long ago that they no longer seemed relevant to my current narrative.
The story that I’m living now.
Perhaps that was the whole point of the question.
Getting people to think about the last time they took any kind of a risk at all.
My mind moved forward, closer to the present, and I thought of writing a book, creating Transformation when Transcendent offers and traveling to watch the sunrise with my feet in the sand across the globe.
All of this involve me standing on the top of the mountain and letting everybody know that I'm dreaming big dreaming often and dreaming out loud.
What are you dreaming of?
Thinking of these things brought the realization that I was proud of myself. I had never taken the time or allowed myself to feel the pride and satisfaction that comes from accomplishing something difficult for the first time. It was an awesome feeling.
Now that I’ve pushed myself outside of my comfort zone though, my comfort zone has grown larger to accommodate these new things.
Which is great, but it also means I have to do even bigger, riskier things in order to go outside of it again.
I’m excited at the prospect and the possibilities, Offering programs that are transformational and Transcendence and ultimately teaching people to age with awesomeness sets my soul on fire!
My question for you the listener is what does having a transformational experience mean to you what does having a Transcendent experience mean to you, how will you age with awesomeness?
If I’m asking myself questions like this I know I’m going outside my comfort zone again which is exactly what I want to do.
My goal is to do something outside of my comfort zone every month.
Something risky, something new. It doesn’t have to be a big thing every time, the little things often make the biggest impact.
The point is to keep growing and expanding as a person.
And it all started with a single question.
So, let me ask you —
When was the last time you did something for the first time?
