In a world filled with fear, what if God sent you a text message saying, “I am just around the corner; I will be there in 5”? Despite our songs, sermons, and prayers, most people are still scared of God. But is that fear justified? Moses asked to see God’s glory, but God’s response was clear: “You may not see my face. No one can see me and live” (Exodus 33:18–20 MSG). So why can’t we see God and live—or at least speak with Him? Jesus, in a powerful display of authority, cleared the Temple (Matthew 21:12–15 MSG). His actions revealed a different side of God—one that wasn’t afraid to confront injustice. We need a closer, nonlethal look at God—one that allows us to see Him without dying. Thankfully, God has spoken to us directly through His Son (Hebrews 1:1–3a MSG). Jesus perfectly mirrors God’s nature. So when Philip asked Jesus to show them the Father, Jesus replied, “If you have seen me, you have seen the Father” (John 14:8–9 CEV). We can see God without fear—without dying.
