Listen "How to Stick to Your Commitments"

Episode Synopsis

Do you make plans with someone and then cancel on them because something comes up? Do you say things like, “It’s ok, we will get together when we get together”? Does this happen over and over and then you never end up meeting up with that person? Or you do, it’s just months or years later? As millennials, we have a reputation for not following through. To committing to too many things, having a hard time saying no and then are unable to do what we set out to. We say things like “I’m too busy.” “Something came up.” “I’ll do this another time.” Is this something you find yourself doing? We are all at fault at some point or another, however, this shouldn’t be something done all the time. Yes life happens and things do come up, but if this continues to be your excuse over and over again. You need to take a step back and re-evaluate your life. Look at what you are making a priority. When you continue to do this, this is showing disrespect not only to yourself, but to others. Let’s take this reputation back and step up to the plate and do what we actually say we are going to do. There is definitely balance, so you need to understand it’s ok to say no. Evaluate your life, look at your schedule, and if you do not have the time then don’t do it, don’t say yes! Staying true to your commitments builds trust and the more you follow through the more responsibility you will be given to others. Questions to think about: If you are the type of person who cancels over and over, think of why you do this? Why do you cancel on people? Why are you saying you will do something and then you don’t follow through? Are you flaky? Are a person who goes where the winds takes you? Ways to stay true to your commitments: View your schedule Does this fit in my schedule?   Only schedule what you know you will be able to accomplish This will take time to figure out so give yourself grace. You may be uncertain how much time things will take you and that’s ok. Will saying Yes to this opportunity benefit myself Will saying yes to this help out a friend Realize it’s ok to say No Don’t worry about offending the other person Don't forget to SUBSCRIBE on iTunes And subscribe to my email list to get updates.
