Episode Synopsis

Send us a textThanks for joining us! Something about going "back to the basics" appeals to all of us. We like to think that if something happened, we'd be able to be self-sufficient. But, really, are any of us REALLY self-sufficient? Can we REALLY do it all ourselves? We all have weaknesses of some kind, even though it's hard for all of us to admit. Paul talks to the people of Corinth in our section of scripture today, and does not say, "after all I've done for you, THIS is how you repay me?" It is not about his pride, for he has something bigger... He goes back to the heart of the matter, and admits his weaknesses, and even says he prayed 3 times for God to take them away. But the lesson learned from God is that it is not about us. We will never be enough. But Jesus sacrifice was enough! His death on the cross gave us the grace of God. Self-sufficiency is never enough. But GRACE sufficiency is all we need. God can handle it all, and he's on our side! It's okay to admit weaknesses and the need for help, and it's more than okay to pray about it. Remember that God is always with you. Therefore, in order to keep me from becoming conceited, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me. 8 Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. 9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. 10 That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
