Born in 1927, Trinity graduate Dr Hillas Smith, MB (1951), worked at London's Royal Free and Northwick Park hospitals. During 1950s national service, he served as an army captain in Germany. In this extract from his unpublished memoir, he recalls his time looking after prisoners at Berlin's infamous Spandau Prison. Read by James Fleming
