Listen ""Get in the Boat" | EveryOne EveryDay | Luke 5:1-11"
Episode Synopsis
The focus of this message is to introduce the story of Jesus calling the disciples in Matthew 4:19. Jesus’ disciples were everyday, ordinary people who were called to the mission of being fishers of men. Later, Acts 4:13 calls them “unlearned and untrained.” It turns out that the mission of Jesus is not just for an elite few, but it is for everyone. It is for everyday, ordinary disciples. But where do we start? We can have a big vision for reaching our community, but what if we each started with one? We will introduce the concept of having a “one” because we if we don’t start with one, we will reach no one. Having a “one” first and foremost means sharing life with someone who isn’t a disciple of Jesus. That is the foundation of what we are calling you to do by asking you to have a “one”. This will introduce the first letter in our F.I.S.H. acronym: “Build a Friendship of Trust”. We do this by doing what Jesus did—he got in the boat with someone. At the end if the service, we will challenge each person to write the name of their “one” on a prayer card and to carry it with them.
