I just finished the book "Tiny Habits" by J B Fogg. He is a researcher  at Harvard and has been teaching and perfecting this principle for over  30 yrs. He says to start small. Two push-ups for a week. Next ten and so  on. And do them with a habit you already have. Like when you get up in  the morning, right after you go to the bathroom, do a small habit.
