Passionate Activism, Climate Change Crises, Diverse Stories and Voices embodied in an enthusiastic individual – Vanessa Nakate.
Vanessa Nakate is a climate activist from Uganda. She was the First Fridays For Future climate activist in Uganda and founder of the Rise up Climate Movement in order to amplify the voices of activists from Africa. Her work includes raising awareness to the danger of climate change, the causes and the impacts. She led the campaign for Save Congo rain forest which is facing massive deforestation. This campaign later spread to other regions from Africa to Europe. She is also working on a project that involves installation of solar and institutional stoves in schools.
Another unique aspect to Vanessa’s activism is that it stems from an individual originating in a third world country. Countries that contribute the least harm but take most of the blow from the aftermath of climate change. As per her quote “Diversity is important, because each activist has a story to tell and each story has its solution” Vanessa highlights the necessity of diversity and how different voices from all backgrounds deserve to partake in the tackling the Climate Crisis.
