Listen "Equipment, Travel and Educating the Able-Bodied with Paralympian Chris Waddell | Episode #2"

Episode Synopsis

Traipsin' Global on Wheels had the opportunity to have a conversation with Chris Waddell, a seasoned Paralympian in mono-skiing.

In 1988, Chris was in a ski accident at the age of 20 that took away his ability to walk. But less than two months later he was back in college, less than one year later he started mono-skiing, and around two years later, he was named to the US Disabled Ski Team. He competed in four Winter Paralympics, winning 12 medals and three Summer Paralympics, winning a silver medal in the 200 meters in Sydney. In September of 2009 Waddell became the first nearly unassisted paraplegic to summit Mt. Kilimanjaro. After his skiing career, Chris founded the ONE REVOLUTION FOUNDATION where he shares the belief that, “It’s not what happens to you. It’s what you do with what happens to you.”

Traipsin’ Global on Wheels is focused on sharing resources and insights into disability advocacy, fitness and health, and accessible travel. Our mission is to build a community of healthy, worldly, and informed advocates.
