He also dabbled as a veterinarian and as an apothecary. Plus, Paul tells the story of 'Doctor of Courage' Alexander Thomas Augusta who enrolled as a medical student at University of Toronto's Trinity College after hitting higher-education roadblocks in the US. Alexander returned to the US some years later where he became the first Black surgeon and the highest ranking Black officer in the Union Army.
