Episode Synopsis

In today’s episode, I chat with Richard Newman, the Farnham Common, United Kingdom-based Founder of Body Talk. Over the past 22 years, Richard and his team have trained over 120,000 business leaders around the world to increase their leadership ratings by up to 44% and win 59% more votes in an election by changing a few simple behaviors.A student first, Richard comes by these lessons naturally. He’s surprisingly introverted. A painfully shy child, Richard has high-functioning autism, which often prevented him from conveying his feelings, ideas and emotions to those around him. At age 18, Richard set out on his own personal mission to discover the secrets of core communication principles. He went to live in the foothills of the Himalayas with Tibetan monks, who spoke no English. A few short years later, he was a professional actor, studying how to walk, move and speak with intention to increase his impact on an audience. He became a keynote speaker, coach, author and speechwriter, winning the coveted Cicero Grand Prize for Best Speechwriter of the Year. In our discussion, we cover a number of fascinating topics. From Richard’s journey from introvert to keynote speaker, the lessons he learned in Tibet, and the power of storytelling. What is your legacy? How do you live a life of intention? These are two of the many questions I put to Richard in a conversation with benefits to leaders, entrepreneurs, and frankly anyone looking to communicate with greater intention. It was an inspiring discussion, and I’m eager for you to listen. In doing so, I hope you enjoy our conversation, as much as I did recording it.Richard NewmanRichard is the Founder of Body Talk.
