Today's episode is from an oral history interview with Cecilia Hadley to share the story of her great aunt, a local hero named Ms. Bessie Bickers. Ms. Bessie was a local school teacher in Gainesville in the early 1900s who was known for her positive attitude, fun-loving nature, hard work ethic, and especially her love for animals. Bessie founded the Humane Society of Hall County back in 1913, which remains one of the oldest human societies in Georgia.
