Listen "3 Misconceptions About Acting from The Public"
Episode Synopsis
Georgie and Pierce are today going to be talking about the misconception and preconceived ideas that many of the general public have about the acting profession. As an actor, you hear some of the most crazy ideas from non actors about what the job entails, so the guys will put it right and commiserate with all you acting folk and save you from having to constantly roll your eyes in frustration. KEY TAKEAWAYS‘You don’t have to be intelligent to be an actor.’ Rubbish. To bring a character to life, and truly understand them, you have to have insight into the issues you are researching and eventually portraying. So, many areas of intelligence are advantageous as an actor.‘Everyone else does all the hard work. You just turn up and act.’ Eugh. Seriously? As an actor, smaller productions require you to wear a lot of hats. Just simply getting the job in the first place is hard enough. ‘You have to be good looking to be an actor.’ Codswallop. The world is made up of all different kinds of people which needs to be represented in the industry to tell truthful and honest stories.BEST MOMENTS‘Its really important that you’re picking up on all of these tiny little seemingly insignificant details to build a full picture of your character.’ - Georgie ‘You’re really looking into these human things as a character that separates them from just a person on a screen that has no depth at all.’ – Pierce‘I don’t know about you, Pierce, but I experience pre-post filming blues.’ – Georgie ‘When people are watching behind-the-scenes footage for example, they don’t see all of the work that goes into creating a character and being an actor.’ – Pierce ‘If you’re trying to really sell something to an audience then you want the characters in that particular production to look like them, to look like ordinary people.’ – Pierce ‘I, for years, thought I’ve got to change to be taken seriously in the industry. You know what, ironically in the theatre world I found typecasting was a lot worse for someone who formally was plus size. Its slowly fading.’ – Georgie VALUABLE RESOURCEShttps://www.actorswarehouse.co.uk/ https://Www.instagram.com/Actorswarehouse/ https://Twitter.com/Weareacting/ ABOUT THE HOSTS Georgie King and Pierce Connelly are a couple and business partners with experience in TV, film and theatre.
