Listen "Wellbeing takes practice, not just time."

Episode Synopsis

It's easy to fall into the trap of thinking that it's a matter of waiting for the right moment or finding the perfect circumstances to start looking after your wellbeing. However, in my own journey, one of the most valuable lessons I have learned is that wellbeing is about practice, not just time.

The Illusion of Time
Often, we believe that we'll prioritise our wellbeing when we have more time on our hands. We think that one day, when work is less demanding or personal commitments are fewer, we'll finally dedicate ourselves to self-care. But the truth is, that day may never come if we keep waiting for it. My JourneyIn my journey teacher, wellbeing advocate, and now as a business owner, I've experienced firsthand the power of practice over time. The Wellness Strategy was born out of a passion for helping teachers and workplaces enhance their wellbeing now rather than waiting until the weekend, holiday, or later. In my own journey, I realised that waiting for the perfect conditions to start wasn't productive. Instead, I started small, incorporating wellbeing practices into my daily routine. It wasn't always easy, and there were days when work demanded more than I thought I could give. However, it was the commitment to practice that made the difference.

Practice as a Lifestyle
Wellbeing isn't a destination you reach; it's a way of life you cultivate. It's about making conscious choices daily, regardless of how busy or demanding life may be.

Here are a few key principles I've embraced on my journey:
Consistency Over Intensity: It's more effective to practice small, consistent acts of self-care than to wait for large blocks of free time.
Mindful Moments: Incorporate mindfulness into your day, even in brief moments. It could be a few minutes of deep breathing or a short walk to clear your mind.
Prioritise Self-Care: Treat self-care as a non-negotiable part of your daily routine. Just as you allocate time for work and responsibilities, make room for your wellbeing.
Learn and Adapt: Be open to learning what works best for you. Not every practice will resonate, so be willing to adjust and find what suits you personally.
The Practice Pays Off
Over time, the practice of prioritising wellbeing becomes a habit, and its benefits become apparent. Improved mental clarity, reduced stress, and increased resilience are just a few of the rewards. The key is not to wait for a perfect moment but to begin wherever you are. There's no better time to start practising wellbeing than now.
