Is it possible to read the Bible wrong? Maybe not "wrong", but certainly you can read it selfishly. The Bible contains a wealth of truth just waiting to be harvested, but that can be tricky when sifting through centuries of culture and language change. Unfortunately, in pursuit of being "correct", many Christians have adopted highly legalistic perspectives of Biblical truth. When we do that, we miss the mark on what God intended for our lives. At worse, it drives us to become a church that actively pushes others away. However, by acknowledging our limited scriptural knowledge and insight, we are forced to focus on things we can hold true: that Christ is love and we are to share that love with the lost and dying world around us.
