Decision makers are executive level stakeholders within a company that are responsible for making decisions and managing resources within their scope. There are so many ways on the internet to get to the decision maker Here is or summation of some best practices and what to look for in the individual you are chatting withWe are really looking at 3 levels 1. The gatekeeper 2. The idea person or lackey doing research 3. The decision maker The gatekeeper:A gatekeeper is a person who controls or regulates access to a decision maker or other key individual. They act as a barrier between the decision maker and external parties, such as salespeople, recruiters, or other individuals seeking to make contact. The gatekeeper's role is to filter and manage the flow of information, calls, and requests that reach the decision maker, and to protect their time and attention. They can be found in many different organizations, from businesses to government agencies. They can be either formal or informal gatekeepers, in formal one is assign by the organization as a secretary, personal assistant, or receptionist, while in informal one could be a team leader, manager or supervisor who control the access to the decision maker.1. Build a relationship with the gatekeeper. Treat them with respect and kindness, and try to understand their perspective. They may be more willing to help you if you build a rapport with them.2. Be direct and specific when asking to speak with the decision maker. Explain the purpose of your call or email and how it will benefit them.3. Use a personal touch. If you know the name of the decision maker, address them by name in your communication and try to make a connection with them.4. Be persistent but respectful.
