Listen "Episode 9 - Art with Ginny"
Episode Synopsis
About Ginny. Born in Yorkshire, England, to an Irish mother and English father, Ginny has grown up in Scotland and was educated in Edinburgh and Madrid. From an early age, she was fascinated by art, history, languages and travel. Studying Art History and French at the University of Manchester for her undergraduate degree took her to Corsica for a year, teaching English to school children. She returned to Edinburgh and followed her passion for drawing and painting, where she studied at the Leith School of Art for 3 years, followed by gaining her Masters in Fine Art and Humanities at the University of Dundee, Scotland. Ginny’s work is concerned with language and the materiality of paint, ontology and the spaces in and around paintings. She has been teaching art for 6 years, and has been lecturing in contemporary arts at the Sichuan Fine Art Institute for the last year and a half.
She recently held 2 solo exhibitions in Chongqing city centre, ‘a thread, a rip, a seed’ and ‘elevations and revelations’ and has returned to the UK to start a PhD in Creative Education and Internationalisation.
