Fei Fei is a young Chinese girl who experiences dramatic loss at an early age. Her interests in science and mythology intertwine when a sudden wave of grief overcomes her, and she builds a rocket to carry her away from her rapidly changing life. Along with her pet rabbit and a surprise stowaway, Fei Fei journeys to the surface of the moon to find the moon goddess Chang'e. The vibrant kingdom of Lunaria presents its own challenges, however, and Fei Fei struggles to please the goddess whom she had admired all her life.
