Listen "The SHE Word - Women and keeping your sex life spicy (especially in long term relationships)"
Episode Synopsis
Let’s be real for a second, keeping the sex spicy in a long term relationship is not a regular dinner time conversation, although maybe it should be. Within marriage and long term relationships, difficulties with sex, different interest levels, or a lack of physical intimacy are cited as common reasons for divorce, separation and break up, with satisfaction often declining over time. But sex in a long term relationship is important isn’t it? Well. Maybe it isn’t for everyone, and maybe it shouldn’t be. A recent study found that on average, long-term couples have sex about once a week (54 times per year). However, statistics vary widely; one study found 31% of couples have sex a few times per week, while 8% have it once a month, and 33% either have sex rarely or not at all. Let me say that again, a third of couples in long term relationships rarely have sex, or not at all. In this brilliantly entertaining and informative episode, we not only look at the magic of how to keep your sex life satisfying in all seasons of your relationship, but we look at the importance of sex in a relationship that is likely to change over years, and how to evaluate the importance of sex and intimacy. Trudy guides her guests through this enlightening and empowering conversation to touch on the challenge of falling in love over and over again with the same person, renegotiating long term relationships, Breaks vs Accelerators and the very real challenges that can interrupt the physical side of a relationship. Joining Trudy are three regular sex-perts and relationship counsellors; Anna Catania is a highly respected and recommended qualified counsellor specialised in the area of sex and relationships and offers counselling and psychotherapy to individuals and couples who are having difficulties with sexuality, relationships and intimacy.
