Listen "23: Solo Jam: It's Okay To Not Be Okay...Finding Resources & Support For Mental Health Battles"
Episode Synopsis
“It’s okay to not be okay and to need help. That doesn't make you weak; it just makes you human. Instead, reconnect, and find the purpose and meaning of your soul.”We all have our “social media lives” where we share our wins and highlights with friends and family. But we don't show when we are struggling. Instead, we battle silently with life, afraid to show the world what is really going on. To support those around us that may need help, we have to recognize the signs that someone is not okay. This episode is a response to the shocking death of Stephen tWitch Boss. It's a reminder of the beauty of life, and encouragement that you are worthy of help and are capable of healing.Life is full of highs and lows. We must learn to handle our failures, release what is no longer serving us and be open to talking about our pain with those we trust.Exceptional highlightsSocial media can be dangerous. People lose loved ones to death by suicide, which is unexpected and shocking. The images that we see in the public oftentimes are not real. We never know if people are in pain, depressed, or in danger. Our mind can make us believe that something is wrong with us, that people will judge us, that we are broken, or that we are a burden to others. And we tell ourselves these stories and it can be dangerous to get stuck in that place. When we breathe, we can access trillions of cells, restructure ourselves, let things go, and release the negative energy our cells hold. With the help of a trusted breathwork facilitator, this can help to release stress, anxiety, trauma, and depression.Episode Highlights15:02 What is Mental HealthMental health is a state of being mentally well and optimal; is the capacity to cope with everyday stresses of life.37:34 Talk Therapy alone is not EnoughWe typically talk to a therapist or psychologist; it stops there with no releasing or healing happening because we're just talking through things. Trauma is stored in the right side of the brain, while talk therapy is a left brain approach to healing. 45:57 Understanding ChakrasWe must realize that we have energetic bodies that can hold stress and trauma that psychologists often don’t address.
