Episode Synopsis

"Our trauma shows up in everything we do, from the way that we love to the way that we parent if we have children. And, of course, it shows up in our business as entrepreneurs."For me, success feels like living an authentic and aligned life—it’s when I wake up every day and feel fulfilled by the work I'm doing and the people I'm surrounded by.As an entrepreneur, my version of success looks like being able to build community and create a safe space for people to come together, share their stories, and find support for their own journeys. But my version of success may be different from yours. We have different goals and aspirations. And we don't share the same paths or stories. As we all are in a constant process of learning, unlearning, and growing, we are gradually evolving and transforming into something significant. Each new experience is a chance to learn more about ourselves and the world around us. And that is why it's essential to live a life by our own rules and definition of successAnd this week, I'm excited to bring you an interview with Sam Smith. Sam is a designer, entrepreneur, and mom who is on a mission to infuse more soul into style. In addition to being a wife and mom —she holds several titles including CEO of New Vintage by Sam, founder of The Creative Consulting Group, founding member of She's Well Networked and COO of Bmore Empowered. Listen in as she talks about how she sparked her creative style in business, and how she cultivated a culture in her company.Exceptional Highlights:If we're not honest with ourselves, we are on autopilot. We will be in general spaces, not in our signature. Seeking external validation is never the move.Entrepreneurship is important, but it's not everything. Though I do want to be successful, I want to have balance and time for family. The world feeds messages that make us feel we aren't enough. So it's up to us to protect and nurture ourselves; nobody is going to put on a cape and rescue us.Show Highlights: 9:12: The importance of finding purpose in art and passionSam: I recreated designs by looking at magazines and using my imagination to re-envision the pieces.
