Episode Synopsis
City of Pittsburgh in turmoil over Antwon Rose CaseSRN News White House Correspondent Greg Clugston - Mueller Report & Israeli PM visit to the White House Tim Muehlhoff The NCAA men's basketball tournament is watched by millions! Not only do people fill out brackets predicting the winner, they also eagerly watch every game! The first week exposed the thrills and dangers of what was being seen. Michigan State (#2 seed), was in an unexpectedly close game to an inferior team. During one time out, Michigan State's coach (Tom Izzo) became enraged at a star freshman player. So enraged, he had to be restrained by his own players from physcially accosting the player--all on public TV. When asked for response, Izzos' players said as the coach his job is to win the game by any means necessary. Period. How would Aristotle respond? For Aristotle, our highest responsibility is to the larger community. Would Aristotle say Izzo's priority was to win the game or set an example? What kind of message is Izzo's rage sending to young coaches and players watching? How is Izzo helping to define masculinity? Leadership? What constitutes winning?
