“Brown Skin Girl” is a poem that was inspired by my friend Sydney. She posted a picture on her social media page some years ago of her in this gorgeous yellow dress. The overall image of the dress, the venue, and her unbothered pose was so stunning that I wanted to find a way to honor her and all of the brown skin girls.
