Listen "Reflections & Lessons: Discipline, Gratitude, and Growth with Richard Coleman & Amy Robinson"
Episode Synopsis
I’m your host, Shaun Lord, and this one’s a little different. Instead of an interview, I’m sitting down with my own journal and reflecting on two powerful conversations we’ve had recently with Paralympic gold medalist Richard Coleman and the middle-distance runner Amy Robinson. Both Richard and Amy reminded me that success is built on mindset. Richard spoke about the discipline of showing up every day, breaking goals down into achievable steps, and finding mentors who can point the way but never forgetting that the work is still yours to do. He also shared how winning as part of a team brought him more joy than standing alone on the podium because true fulfillment comes when success is shared.Amy, meanwhile, left me with a line that’s been echoing in my head ever since: “I’m as young as I’ll ever be.” For her, that meant leaning into gratitude, chasing dreams in the present, and role-modelling courage for her children and community. Her perspective reminded me that no matter the season of life, we can choose growth and positivity. At the heart of both stories is this: resilience, gratitude, and surrounding yourself with people who lift you higher. So this reflection is raw, honest, and a little unpolished but that’s the point. It’s about growing in real time, just like the people who’ve inspired it.Let’s dive in.
