Listen "A/Prof Emma Readman: Balance, Curiosity, Mongolia and Laparoscopic Gynaecology"

Episode Synopsis

This week we are joined by Emma Readman, a gynaecologist specialising in endometriosis and laparoscopic procedures - hysterectomy, myomectomy, cervical stitch insertion, other hysterosopic procedures and general gynaecology to name a few.

Emma is Head of Unit at the Mercy Hospital for Women in Endo-Surgical procedures and a board member of the Australian Gynaecological Endoscopy and Surgery Society. She is a tutor, lecturer and overseer of Fellowship students and advanced endoscopic trainees. In addition, she was instrumental in founding the Mongolian Australian Medical Affiliation, and spends time each year working, teaching and learning in Mongolia.

In this Coffee Chat, Emma provides insight into the world of Obstetrics and Gynaecology - the pathway in, what the job looks like and what life outside of work can look like. We also speak about taking a gap year during medical school, keeping personal priorities front and centre, and about working and observing overseas. We speak about studying, committing, and how to approach doing all the things you want to do in your lifetime: in medicine and beyond. We hope you enjoy this week’s episode!
