Episode Synopsis

Welcome to episode 4 of the podcast! In this episode, Mum and I talk about her favourite type of gravel (from a garden designer's perspective) and the benefits of having a gravel garden, such as: easy weeding, lack of mowing maintenance, great source of drainage and the trendy “informal” garden look. Mum speaks on how she rebrands ‘weeds’ as ‘wild flowers’ in the gravel garden.I reminisce on my fond childhood memories of simpler times with my pet chickens. I discuss how my brother and I built a small “chicken village” together and recount my memories of inner child-like peace and happiness that this activity gave me.Mum takes a trip down memory lane as she relives her appearance on BBC 2’s TV series ‘The Ranganation’. She talks about her 2019 studio experience in London whilst filming series one, and then compares that to series 2 of the show, filmed on Zoom in 2020’s lockdown. Funny memories are recalled, such as Mum making a homemade loaf of bread, in the shape of the tv host's head, and how it featured on the show.Plus, we talk about much more!Timings + Topics:0:00 - 0:29 intro0:29 - 3:41 Why did Mum choose the gravel garden today?6:27 - 8:10 Free Weekly Art Prompt Sheets8:10 - 25:28 The gravel garden25:28 - 30:58 Benefits of a gravel garden + Nigel Dunnett’s Rain Garden18:42 - 25:28 Best gravel from a garden designer’s perspective + why it’s better than Cotswold chipping30:58 - 33:26 Preparing for January exhibition + Mum’s new art style33:26 - 38:30 Learning to drive again at age 4038:20 - 41:34 Fox sightings + Mum’s magical cub experience41:34 - 50:52 Emma’s happy memories of pet chickens + inner child simple fun50:52 - 1:02:21 Mum’s appearance on The Ranganation TV series1:02:21 - 1:08:49 Two bee stings in one week + Maisy the dog’s frisby obsession1:08:49 - 1:10:30 OutroWhilst this is an audio-only podcast, you can find supporting images of each episode’s location via the free #CreativeSpaceNatureSpark creative prompt sheets.
