Listen "Episode 4: From Birth to Sexuality to Death and Beyond: An Interview with Dr. Petra Frese Interview"
Episode Synopsis
Dr. Petra Frese, born and raised in East Germany, always dreamed of the West. While she was studying at the Humboldt University Berlin to become a scientist and engineer, the Wall came down, and she moved to West Germany. Later, she relocated to beautiful Switzerland with her family. There, she became a pillar of her community as a volunteer firefighter. Petra herself has faced multiple near-death experiences and other profound events that changed her view on life and its values.
These experiences taught her to never give up and that miracles can be created. Her beliefs are based on the integration of science, the power of the mind, and spirituality, with love as the main ingredient. Petra realized her life’s purpose is to help heal the world. She followed her Soul’s plan and became an award-winning hypnotist and instructor, healer, spiritual teacher, and mental coach. She currently runs offices in Pennsylvania, USA, and Switzerland.
She is also regularly invited as an international keynote speaker. Petra became globally known as the Intuitive Scientist. For her lifetime achievements, she was awarded an honorary doctorate in psychology. Petra’s work focuses on the power of the mind, death, and sexuality, as well as balancing control. She now lives on the East Coast of the United States with her husband, the love of her life, their cold-nosed, warm-hearted Old English sheepdog, and their colorful parrot.

Hello. We are saying our prayers and our blessings that Zoom works beautifully today while I'm meeting with Dr. Petra Frese. I am just so honored that you are willing to meet up with me and we can just have a conversation. And this is just a conversation and getting to know some real wonderful people who are experts in their space. And so I just want to read a little bit about Dr. Petra. Born and raised in East Germany, she always dreamed of the West. While she was studying at the Humboldt University of Berlin to become a scientist and an engineer, so she definitely has that part of her brain going on, the wall came down and she moved to West Germany. Later, she relocated to beautiful Switzerland, which I've been there, is so amazingly beautiful. So she moved there with her family, and there she became a pillar of her community as a volunteer firefighter. Lovely. Petra herself has faced multiple near death experiences, which I hope you'll share today, and other profound events that changed her view on life and its values. These experiences taught her to never give up and that miracles can be created.
[00:01:26.470] - Pat Sheveland
Absolutely. Her beliefs are based on the integration of science, the power of the mind, and spirituality with love as the main ingredient. Petra realized her life's purpose is to help heal the world. Got up to my own heart, she followed her soul's plan and became an award winning hypnotist and instructor, healer, spiritual teacher, and mental coach. She currently runs offices in Pennsylvania here in the US and Switzerland. She is also regularly invited as an international keynote speaker, and she became globally known as the intuitive scientist. I love that. For her lifetime achievements, she was awarded an honorary doctorate in psychology. And so Petra's work focuses on the power of the mind, death, and sexuality, as well as balance and control. So I'm highly interested in hearing all about this. She now lives on the East Coast in the US with her husband, the love of her life, her cold, warmhearted, warmhearted, warmhearted old English sheepdog, who is sitting next to her now. So if we hear from her beautiful sheepdog, that's awesome. And she also has a colorful parrot. So everything, you're just like a woman after my own heart. I just love everything about you, including your animals.
[00:02:39.630] - Pat Sheveland
Birds are just so important to me, and our pets are so loving, so wonderful. So this is an open forum. We're just going to have a conversation. And I just want to let people know how this started. P etra and I both belong to a coaching group. It's a business coaching group for authors. And so we've written books. And I just put out there, if anybody's interested in being interviewed by me on Zoom just so that we can share their magic out in the world through whatever space I have, I would love to do that. And so P etra raised her hand. Knowing also that part of the work that I do, well, the most of the work, main work that I do is working, my whole vision and purpose is healing family grief, which is very broad in lots of different ways. It's not just about the death of a loved one, but there's so many layers as Petra, I know that you know through that. So you raised your hand. So my question to you is, why are we talking today? Tell me a little bit.
[00:03:41.350] - Dr. Petra Frese
First of all, thank you for having me and thank you for doing all the amazing work you are doing. Thank you for sharing your heart with us. Thank you, Pat.
[00:03:50.410] - Pat Sheveland
You're welcome.
[00:03:51.920] - Dr. Petra Frese
So we are talking because I want to share at least partially my story in order to give people hope, to share what I've experienced, some tools I used for myself, and I'm now sharing with my clients to make this process of healing a little easier. That's the reason why I raised my hand.
[00:04:12.800] - Pat Sheveland
Oh, beautiful. I love it. So should we start from... I don't know if it's the beginning, but near death experiences are so fascinating for those of us who have not experienced it. And being a scientist and then having a near death experience. Can you share a little bit, some of your story with us, please?
[00:04:34.680] - Dr. Petra Frese
Absolutely. It's not the beginning. It is more or less the beginning of my conscious spiritual path. So prior to that, I have lost two children and I was done with life. The first one, I somehow could continue living and breathing after the second child passed. I didn't see any reason and I had no idea how I would manage this thing that we call life. I was still very young, had no clue what I know today, of course, that time I thought I'm not that inexperienced. So I didn't see any purpose in life. And then I finally decided that I would go into science and use my analytical brain, shutting off the emotional part. And I thought this is a pretty cool coping strategy. And I was done with family and children and didn't want to go through that again. So I had lost almost everything. I had lost my relationship, my home, my money. It was a very nasty situation. And today I know I left an abusive relationship. I had no clue that time. And then I met my now husband. We have been married for 26 years and we have a grown daughter together.
[00:05:55.250] - Dr. Petra Frese
She's beautiful. But I didn't know that time and so life lived me. And after I had given birth to our daughter, an uterus ruptured I had from a previous birth and the medical doctors didn't realize what was going on. I had a very intense pregnancy. I spent 30 weeks in a hospital bed during my pregnancy. And so we celebrated having that baby being alive. And they probably didn't care so much about me. And my husband forced them to double check. And it was very late. I had lost a lot of blood already. And then they rushed me into surgery. And the next thing I remembered that my conscious fault was my life's work is done. I have a baby. double-checkAnd I remember vividly how I left my body and I watched the scene from above. And it took a moment to realize the body they are working on, this is the body I used to be inside it. And what I was thinking, and it's not that the thinking we know here, it just happened. It was instantly. And I thought, okay, that's cool that they are busy. Because when they are so busy, they cannot do any harm to the world.
[00:07:15.490] - Dr. Petra Frese
So let's keep them busy. And then I was pulled, it was a really strong force through a very short dark tunnel and then into a light I cannot explain, even after so many years, I cannot explain this, this sparkling, this brightness, this warmth of that light. And it was just amazing. And I wanted to be there. And I still feel how I expanded. And I wanted to be there. And then I was harshly stopped. And it took me a while. What is time? Time doesn't exist there. What we compare on earthly feelings. I think it took me a while to realize what was going on. And I've seen faces, not faces we know here. It was a foggy structure, but I could recognize the faces. And one of them was my great aunt. I met her a couple of times as a child. She had passed away many years prior to that. And she was the one that stopped me. And she told me, It's not your time. You cannot stay here. But we want to show you something. We need you to go back and you have to fulfill your purpose. And that time we lived in Germany.
[00:08:31.170] - Dr. Petra Frese
And all the language we spoke was German, nothing but German. And then God spoke to me and he said the sentence in English, the world needs to know. The world needs to know. And then he left and I had no clue what the world needs to know. And then the other souls, my great aunt and the other souls showed me around and gave me the insights what the world needs to know. And all the other messages have been revealed in German. And I'm going to share with you what the world needs to know. Thank you. It was overwhelming and it was so beautiful over there and I wanted to stay there. I was consciously aware that I just had delivered a baby. My dream had become true and I was consciously aware that I have a husband I dearly loved and I did not want to go back. Not because I don't love them, because I knew, I really knew with every single cell, with every part of my being that they would be okay. And I think this is important to know that the souls who transition, they care for the people who remain on earth, but they know much more than we know here on earth that we are able to cope with that.
[00:09:46.260] - Dr. Petra Frese
And I was pushed back into that body and weight and pain and all those earthly things. And I didn't want to be there. And I appreciated my baby and my husband. And it took me six years to talk about the experience the very first time. I was so scared. I couldn't put it together. And me being a scientist and this virtual experience, I had no clue. And I was scared. And after six years, I started opening up to my husband and I shared. And I told him what I had experienced. And I told him the messages that there is no real death. We continue to live. We leave our bodies, but we continue to live. So there is no reason for us to be scared. This was message number one. In my second near death experience, I received the message that we always have a choice. Even though we don't see it, but we always have choices. And this is something I think we need to keep in mind that every soul has a choice. And following their life's path, they get advice from the other side. But there are choices. So it's always to our very best and to the source that transition to their very best.
[00:11:09.080] - Dr. Petra Frese
So when they are taken away from us and we remain with our pain and the loss and the emptiness, they went and had a choice. I didn't understand that the first time because I felt I didn't have a choice. I was pushed back. And the third NDE's message to me was great wisdom comes with great responsibility. So here on earth, I don't know if in English the saying exists, everything comes with a price. This might not be the whole truth, but this is what we probably mean when we say that. With great wisdom, with great information, knowledge, wisdom comes great responsibility. And this is what I have to share, what the world needs to know. And the beauty out of those three NDEs, the beauty of that after them, I had four out of body experiences. And with an out of body experience, what I experienced is that you don't have to go through this healing phase, the physical recovery. This is not what happened to me. With an NDE, you're physically dying. And it took me a long time to get my physical body together and to come back to my strength and recover and process all that.
[00:12:26.830] - Dr. Petra Frese
With an out of body experience, I think it's much easier because you don't have this physical injury and you don't have to recover physically so much. So there's a lot of opportunities for us to learn. We always have choices and we don't have to fear anything, and it happens for.
[00:12:47.390] - Pat Sheveland
A reason. I could just cry because I do work with... My passion is grieving parents. I was born into a grieving family where my parents, my older brother had died six years before I was born, so I'd never met him. And they buried their grief. And I called it failed grief because they were never able to work through that grief. And as you said, so many things happened in their lives. And my mom is upstairs. You might even hear the TV going. She's going to be 96 in July. And she never was able to really express her love, her guilt, all those feelings that go with deep grief until my brother would have been 60. So my mom was almost 90 years old. And so I have a deep passion to help. But I have a question for you, which is not in our list of questions. But when I was a corporate executive and flying on a plane one time, and this was in 2012, shortly after my brother's, what would have been, his 60th birthday. He was born on June 21st. I was born six years later on June 22nd. So we were very...
[00:13:57.080] - Pat Sheveland
I always felt this kinship with him. You're getting goozy. I've always had this kinship, even though no one ever talked about his name. I used to go to the cemetery and sit at his little stone and just be with him, but I don't know how to explain that. And my parents didn't know that I would do that. And I was on a plane, and this voice came. I felt like I was hit by lightning or that I had a seizure. And I'm a nurse, so science, I totally get that piece of it. But I felt like I had a seizure. And this voice said, I was born through you. And I immediately just knew it was Greg. And that's why I said our soul's purpose, because we absolutely had this beautiful connection that I had no clue about as a child. But then having him come back, and it really is to help families. So I'm so grateful that you are. I didn't know your story. I didn't know your story. So, folks, this is not a set up. I didn't know your story about being a grieving mother and everything that you went through.
[00:14:58.400] - Pat Sheveland
And that's the message message that I really want to help, especially grieving parents, is that there's nothing to be afraid of, that your child, it's a spirit. And so Todd, can you just talk a little bit about that? What are some of the things that you think are helpful for the people who are grieving, especially those who have lost a child since you, unfortunately, are the expert.
[00:15:21.820] - Dr. Petra Frese
About that. And I'm not proud about that.
[00:15:24.370] - Pat Sheveland
No one wants to be that. No, not at all. Not at all.
[00:15:27.780] - Dr. Petra Frese
What I'm going to share is from my personal experience. I don't know if this is true for many because I did not express it to the outside. I was grieving silently. And it took me 25 years. So I started after six years talking to my husband. And after 25 years, I was told to speak at a conference about my NDEs. And there I learned I can survive. I'm still here. I can do that. And how much help and hope it gives. And what I did in the grieving phase, I felt a lot of guilt. I thought constantly those spinning thoughts, what could I have done differently? Why me? Why two times? What happened? Is this a punishment? And all those nasty, nasty voices. And this is what I want to share. You haven't done anything wrong. You have not done anything wrong. It's the life path. It's the soul's learning path. And you haven't done anything wrong. I don't know your personal story, but what I know from my experiences, this is not how we think here that we are judged. There shouldn't be any guilt. And if you can do this for yourself to lift that burden, that's a huge weight lifted because you haven't done anything wrong.
[00:16:50.270] - Dr. Petra Frese
There is no place for guilt. And the second thing, what I think was I would have been happy if someone had told me, what happened to me was after seven years, the pain changed. And I had another phase of severe grief because I felt so bad that it did not hurt so much anymore. It changed. It was different pain. And I felt again guilty that I did not experience the same intensity of pain anymore. Now, with hindsight, I know I was probably ready to move forward and to help other people. I didn't know at that time, and I kept it to myself because I didn't know how to handle that. So those are the two things I really want to share. There is no reason to feel guilty about. And when your pain changes, when you manage to come out of that cycle where it burningly hurts, be grateful and happy that you made it. Don't wait as long as I did. It happens for a reason and the healing happens for a reason. It enables you to share your gift and help other people reach your hand and help them. This is what helped me.
[00:18:03.020] - Pat Sheveland
And that is so back to my mother when my brother would have been 60. I actually worked with her. I was already in coaching, but I just started to ask the questions and peel back the layers. And the guilt that she had held to her chest so quietly for all those years was the immense emotion that really had frozen her and so much of her life. And just having her give it air by speaking it out loud, and then I could sit back and with my science mind, with my nursing mind, say, This is what I heard happen. This is how I see it happen. There was a clinical things that occurred here. There was nothing you could have done differently. And once she had that, it was just almost like, because she was able to put air to it. Because when you hold it in, it is your suffering that whole time that you're holding it in. Yeah. So thank you. I can't wait to share your story with all my clients and my past clients and the future ones, of course. Because this is what we work through in the coaching program is, let's give it air, let's talk about it, let's work through these emotions, especially anger and guilt.
[00:19:19.670] - Pat Sheveland
Those are the two that seem.
[00:19:21.220] - Dr. Petra Frese
So strong. Absolutely. And what I found out for myself and what I now share with my clients is that they very often people say time will heal it. And to be honest, this is what makes me angry because this is not true. Time does not heal. The only thing that time does is it might put layers of dust on the wound, but what really heals is our actions, giving it air, sharing it with someone, allowing ourselves to cry, and allowing ourselves to be happy. That's the guilt thing. It happened to me. And I see this with clients when we laugh. Am I allowed to be happy? Yes, we are. Yes. Time doesn't do the job for us. We have to do it. And I'm sorry for you and your mom that she had to go through this for 60 years. To me, it only took 30 years. And I feel your brother and I feel this is so wonderful that she can have both of your souls. That's amazing. Even though it was so painful for her, but she has you both.
[00:20:32.470] - Pat Sheveland
Yes. And it sadden s me to think she went through all those years. But yet there's a piece of me that I know that there was a divine purpose with all of that, too, because had she not, I may not have the understanding that I have. I may not have that connection with my brother that I have soul to soul, and I wouldn't be doing the work that I do today as with anything that we do. Now we're going to go on a whole different thing. You mentioned something before we talked about this sexuality thing. I would love to hear about that. I'm assuming it's a little bit of a turn off the path that we've been on, but let's talk a little bit about that.
[00:21:17.340] - Dr. Petra Frese
I love talking about this because I think it's so healing. And if you understand what death and sexuality have in common, then we probably or this is my hope that we can enjoy our sexuality much more. Because what they have in common, those are both moments and child birth also, where we are absolutely not in control. It's total loss of control. And it's also the most beautiful moments in our life. So when you imagine as a woman giving birth, you are fully in the moment. There's no time for you to think about the grocery list. You are in labor, right? You and the baby are in labor. You're fully in the moment. And that's the same or similar when we are dying. We are fully in that moment. And the more we allow this to happen, the more peaceful and beautiful it is. And the same is true for sexuality. So when we orgasm, when we allow it to happen, when we surrender and give up control, the more beautiful it is. And the healthier it is for our bodies, the healthier it is for our minds, and the healthier it is for our relationships.
[00:22:28.400] - Dr. Petra Frese
And when we understand that concept, the balance of control. So there are moments in our life where we really need to be in control, where we need structure, where we have to be in charge. And there are moments where we can let go of control. That's the right thing to do. to do to surrender, to give up control. And then we understand that we can consciously create that balance. And being in balance, this is our state of being healthy. And when we choose that our sexuality is that part where we are consciously surrender our control, we can enjoy it much more and we make our physical system, our relationship and our joy much better. So that's the connection to me, being born or giving birth, being sexually active and the transitioning to the other realm. And those are the moments I think we really, when we understand that, we can create that healthy balance in our life and enjoy what we have as a human experience. The sexuality is a human basic need based on Maslow, the pyramid he created. And to me, it belongs in the same category like drinking water, eating food, sleep, shelter, air to breathe, and sexuality.
[00:23:49.380] - Dr. Petra Frese
And nobody stops eating for a long time or drinking water. If we are not allowed to sleep, it's a torture method. But some of us think we don't need to fulfill our sexual needs. And this brings us out of balance. And I think that's so important to understand that there are moments to surrender control and just enjoy and allow this.
[00:24:11.030] - Pat Sheveland
To happen. Powerful. I'm a Qigong teacher. I've been trained in Qigo ng by Grand Master Ch undi Lin. And he did a talk, a sex talk with a lot of executives at something where they were at. And he talked about the energy points that we have within our female and male. And so there's an absolute reason why that sexual activity also is necessary from a health standpoint, even from ancient Chinese wisdom, that those points were put together so that they would connect, that they would be activated. And that's really so key for longevity and having a healthy life. So that's really beautiful. And I love that whole visual of the continuum. You give birth, go through that, the sexual activity, and then death, and it's all beautiful. It really is just a beautiful continuum of life. And then after death, of course, we know, based on what you told us that, and what many have told us, and what our beliefs are, that that just continues on. So wonderful. So I'd like you, so I don't forget about it, can you share... Now you've written two books. Is that true? Share the names of your books and a little bit about those.
[00:25:33.810] - Dr. Petra Frese
My first book is called Your script for Hope, and it talks about my work, my clients. I helped in any stage of their life when Western medicine had given up and told them that's the end, we can't help them. And I helped them to create their miracles, whatever their miracle is, either healing or a peaceful, graceful transition. And the second book is also called Your script, Your script for intimacy, fix your marriage and your sex life. So it's the continuum what we just talked about, more or less, how we can use my experiences, the messages I received to die gracefully and to allow it to happen in love and to make our life more love filled and to enjoy that.
[00:26:24.120] - Pat Sheveland
All about love. You and I were on a little call the other night, and maybe you want to share a little bit about that, too. Maybe we could give a little plug for the Academy. Do you want to just share a little bit about that, like what we're being called to do there?
[00:26:43.390] - Dr. Petra Frese
How I see the Academy, it's the Medical J eady Academy, and we bring together experts from different fields to help medical doctors or medical professionals to grow into the new medicine, to make the shift from solely using scientific information, knowledge to combine it with spiritual wisdom, the bridging, what I do, what you do, our information, our knowledge, our scientific understanding from the corporate world and the spirituality we learn. So that bridging and combination. And to me, it's, Albert, we all know, said it once very nicely, I think information or knowledge is to know that water is H2O, and wisdom is to know how to make it rain. And when we combine that, knowing water is H2O and know how to make it rain and stop to make it rain, quote unquote, I think this is what we come together to create and to help humanity to grow and to move forward. I'm very excited about that project, that we respect each other, that we grow together. And it's not that the only male energy that's showing off. Yes, of course, we need male energy totally. We have to be competitive. Otherwise, we would stagnate. We want to move forward.
[00:28:13.510] - Dr. Petra Frese
We want to evolve. We want to create. It's the combination also with the feminine, with the knowing when to stop, knowing when to move forward. I think that's very important for women. And a lot of women in Western culture have forgotten what their purpose is. The purpose of women or one job is to say it's enough. We have enough. This is so important. And I think this moving forward and competition and we have enough. Thank you. Let's rest the combination of both.
[00:28:47.510] - Pat Sheveland
Yes, the beautiful yin and yang of bringing it together.
[00:28:51.100] - Dr. Petra Frese
How do you see it? How do you see the academy?
[00:28:54.490] - Pat Sheveland
I see the same thing now coming from being a nurse and a background as a nurse, and that scientific and the science piece of it. And it is amazing to me, in not a bad way, it's an observation that we still have so much that we can be doing in the medical field to understand how spirituality is connected. There's many, many who are starting to step into that and seeing what energy is and understanding that deeper piece. But to me, it really is. It's a marriage of spirituality, spirit, and the physical being. And that we're all coming together with different backgrounds, but we all have a scientific background, but we're very steeped into our spiritual purpose and to share that. And I'm very excited because this is for medical professionals and to help them to be able to try on some different things and different ways of really truly being complimentary. So taking the knowledge that we have because we need that scientific knowledge, we need to know that there's so many good things that has come out of Western medicine. But we also cannot forget, like I talk about Qigong, that goes back almost 7,000 years from the Yellow Emperor's manuscript.
[00:30:13.870] - Pat Sheveland
That means there's so much wisdom that we can bring together, and the wisdom that you're bringing from that spiritual and your true experience of that. And so we are just bringing a lot of really talented people together to just help share. And hopefully that those that are in the academy that are going through this training just really see what a difference that they can make in the world. Because we all go into medicine to help. That's truly what we are. Absolutely. Yeah. So that's how I see it. I'm really excited about this. For those of you that are watching, this is a brand new program. It's not even up off the ground yet where all the faculty is just connecting now and getting to know each other like Petra and I, so that we can move forward on this and make this difference in the world. Anything else that you want to share before we end tonight today?
[00:31:11.820] - Dr. Petra Frese
I want to share my heart. I'm grateful. I'm thankful. It's all about love. Let's share the love. That is.
[00:31:19.470] - Pat Sheveland
Too funny. We both have our big crystal hearts.
[00:31:23.280] - Dr. Petra Frese
We did not talk. Oh, my goodness. Look at that. What is yours?
[00:31:28.640] - Pat Sheveland
Yellow night. Okay.
[00:31:29.680] - Dr. Petra Frese
Yeah.
[00:31:30.090] - Pat Sheveland
This is Rose Quart. Rose Quart.
[00:31:32.280] - Dr. Petra Frese
Yeah. Oh, beautiful. You can't make this stuff up. You can't make.
[00:31:37.360] - Pat Sheveland
It up. Well, I want to let you know, I am so grateful. I'm excited to have, like I said, have met you on a one to one basis. I'm so excited to get this out to everybody I know. This is just amazing stuff. I know that we will be connected on a going forward basis beyond the medicine. Yes, our hearts are connected.
[00:32:03.550] - Dr. Petra Frese
Absolutely. Thank you so much. Thank you.
[00:32:06.440] - Pat Sheveland
