Listen "S1 E1: “I am both languages!”"
Episode Synopsis
When we learn a language, are we just carving a path that leads back to ourselves? In this first episode, I meet with Ashley, English Language Trainer and Communication Coach for Athletes and Sports Professionals. Ashley reflects on what drew her to Spain over 20 years ago, and describes a time when she felt ‘the click’. Interestingly, she shares an anecdote describing her reactive ‘Spanish-self’, and how she actually likes her ‘English-self’ better! We touch on creativity in her field of sports, and feeling creative in different languages. *In this episode I refer to the ideas of Graham Wallas (whose name I forget at the time), a social psychologist and educationalist, and the four steps of creativity he describes in his book The Art of Thought. You can read the same summary that I read here: https://www.themarginalian.org/2013/08/28/the-art-of-thought-graham-wallas-stages/ Janelle is the founder of English Creative, where she helps curious, creative individuals feel like themselves in English. Through identity-aligned coaching and group experiences, she creates spaces for courage, connection, and self-expression in English. Her work includes 1:1 mentoring, an audio-note coaching subscription and her signature course, Effortlessly You: Communicate who you are in English. 👉 LEARN MORE - www.english-creative.com 🔥 BONUS ACCESS - Video + transcript: https://english-creative.kit.com/d26f9f9dcf 💡 CLICK MOMENTS - Every episode leaves me with something: https://englishcreative.substack.com/
